FAQs

Questions you may have about my practice and the therapy I provide.

Our free 20-minute telephone call is simply an informal chat to talk through what is bringing you to therapy. It gives us a chance to see how we get on and lets you decide if I am the right therapist for you, completely free from any pressure.

Therapy and supervision sessions are 55 minutes long. We usually meet once a week at the same time, though we work entirely at your pace and can review your schedule as your therapy progresses.

My private, quiet therapy room is based in Butterknowle. It is comfortable, entirely confidential, and easily accessible if you are travelling from Bishop Auckland, Barnard Castle, or the surrounding areas.

We spend our full 55-minute session walking outside in nature rather than sitting in a therapy room. Combining gentle movement and fresh air with professional support can make it much easier to open up and process complex feelings. We will mutually agree on a local outdoor location beforehand.

Individual therapy and supervision sessions are £70, and couples sessions are £85. Payment is made in advance on the day of your booking via a secure bank transfer. I am unable to accept card or cheque payments.

I operate a strict 72-hour cancellation window from Monday to Friday. If you need to cancel or rearrange your session, please give me at least 72 hours’ notice, or the full session fee will apply.

Yes. If you prefer the comfort of your own home or live outside County Durham, I offer secure, confidential video sessions over Zoom or telephone appointments for clients nationwide.

I offer supportive, collaborative clinical supervision to both fully qualified counsellors and trainee practitioners. I provide a trusted space to review your client cases, navigate ethical dilemmas, protect your well-being, and safely grow your practice.

I specialise in Transactional Analysis (TA) Psychotherapy and utilise an integrative approach. This means I look closely at the communication loops and patterns that shape your life, while bringing in flexible tools like mindfulness and grounding exercises to fit your specific needs.

We work completely open-ended or short-term based on your specific goals. There is no fixed commitment, and we will review our progress together regularly so you always stay in complete control of your therapeutic journey.

We meet outdoors whatever the weather, unless conditions become genuinely unsafe. If the weather is far too severe to walk, we can easily switch your appointment to a secure online video link or telephone session so you do not miss your support.
